Obituary for George Yount

Rev. George Andrew Yount, age 86, of Marble Hill, MO, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the VA Nursing Home in Cape Girardeau, MO.

He was born October 10, 1930 in Morley, Missouri, son of George Washington and Ada Amderella Wright Yount. He and Mary “Juanita” Cannon were united in marriage on March 22, 1952 and she passed away on November 18, 2008.

Mr. Yount served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was ordained by the Congregational Methodist in 1958, a member of the Community Church of Marble Hill and worked for National Lead in Granite City, Illinois as a welder.

Survivors include; his daughters; Jenette (Tim) Segerson of Henderson, Tennessee; Pat (James) Trentham and Sandy (Tony) Hughes both of Marble Hill, Missouri; Lynn (Danny) Schweer of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; brothers Ray Alden Yount of Clearwater, Florida; Roy Albert Yount of Madison, Illinois; sisters Flossie “Gross” Boehl of Marble Hill, Missouri; Lillian May Johnson of Granite City, Illinois; Lucille Fay Hagler of Clermont, Florida; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers David James and Frank Harry Yount.

Visitation will be Friday, May 19, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral service will be Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel with Sis. Diana Cook, Rev. Ronnie Davis, and Bro. Eddie Cook officiating. Burial will follow at the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, Missouri with full; military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honors Team.
