Henry Wilson Durham, age 90, of Marble Hill, died Monday, October 12, 2009 at his residence.

He was born April 10, 1919 in Lowndes, MO son of George and Pheraby Richey Durham. He and Pearl M. Moyers were united in marriage on June 29, 1946.

Mr. Durham worked in construction, as a farmer and was a member of the Hahn Chapel General Baptist Church.

Durham enlisted in the United States Army on January 27, 1941 and was a member of Company D of the 711th Battalion in the 7th Division where he served as a tank commander, driver and radio operator. He saw a considerable number of military skirmishes in the Philippines and Okinawa, Japan where he was awarded two bronze stars.

He is survived by; two sons, Terry (Elizabeth Miller) Durham of Cedar Rapids, IA, David (Karen Heil) Durham of Hardin, MO, two grandchildren, Kyle (Courtney Johnston) Durham Hardin, MO, and Kristen Lee Durham of Oakland, CA, one great-grandson Simeon Caleb Durham of Hardin, MO.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Albert, Benton, Charley, and four sisters, Nancy Meador, Eula McCarn, Ruby Hedrick, Alice Thomas.

Contributions may be made to the Hahn Chapel General Baptist Church.

Friends may call Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, MO from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

Funeral services will be Thursday, at 10:00 AM at the Hahn Chapel General Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Huff officiating; Burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, MO with full military honors provided by the Missouri honors team and VFW post 5900.
