Obituary

Rev. James “Clifton” Trentham, age 93 of Marble Hill, MO; passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born March 7, 1926 in Bessville, MO; son of James Madison and Elmine Upchurch Trentham. He first married Irene Williams on May 10, 1945 and she passed away on August 3, 2003. He then married Deloris Jackson on January 1, 2004.

Rev. Trentham started preaching for the Lord in 1944 and pastored Mt Hope Church in Wayne County prior to being licensed. He was licensed by Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church in 1951. He continued pastoring Mt. Hope and was ordained at the meeting of the Old Liberty Association on October 18, 1952 at the Chaffee General Baptist Church. He was the first minister of Jackson General Baptist Church in 1959.

He is survived by his wife Deloris, sons Jimmy (Sarah) Trentham of Oakland City Indiana; Jerry (Jennifer) Trentham of Glen Allen, MO; Kenneth (Cathy) Trentham of Marble Hill, MO; daughters Doris (Kenneth) Denton of Beebe, Arkansas, Debbie (Monnie) Jones of Marble Hill, MO; stepchildren: Mitchell (Theresa) Jackson of Cape Girardeau, MO; Deborah (Harold) Lancaster of Delta, MO; twenty four grandchildren and fifty great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Irene, parents, stepdaughter Cheryl Pruett, two brothers, three sisters and son-n-law Randy Masters.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the restoration of the Marble Hill Family Fellowship Gym.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Homes in Marble Hill, MO.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 11.00AM at the Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church with Jimmy Trentham, Rev. Kenny Trentham, Jerry Trentham, Rev. Chris Masters and Rev. Monnie Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Many years ago, I remember him as a fun loving christian man who was friends with my parents Merl and Iva Stroder. We spent time at each others homes. He was a good and strong person. The only child I remember was Doris as a teenager
